GVBL Center at Bacton Hill |

The GVBL Center is a 10,000 square foot facility equipped with two basketball courts with
synthetic all purpose surfaces and bleacher type seating. There is a full concession area, meeting room
and womens/mens lavatory. Besides its obvious use as a basketball facility, it has been used for other
athletics such as soccer, baseball/softball, lacrosse, volleyball, strength/agility training, etc.
In addition,
we have hosted other non athletic functions such as team banquets, birthday parties, community functions,
dances, senior citizen functions, movie nights, fundraisers and more. For information regarding use of the
facility, please contact us.
The center is located at 17 and 19 North Bacton Hill Rd, near the intersection of Bacton Hill and
Swedesford Rd. Here is the location via
mapquest.
The Future of the GVBL Center
Two years ago, this November, GVBL signed a 3 year lease on 10,000 square feet of warehouse space
at 19 N. Bacton Hill road. That space is now known as the GVBL Center, a small complex which has
grown into an integral part of our community. Besides winter and summer youth basketball leagues,
which run eight months a year, the Center houses a vast array of programs, events and activities.
In less than two years time, what we envisioned this multiuse facility to grow into has quickly
become a reality. A “home” for the local senior citizen’s functions; Fundraisers to benefit
local interests; Banquets for area associations and school district teams and organizations;
Activities for the communities Girls and Boys Scout troops. All are occurring on a regular
basis at the facility. A week doesn’t go by where we don’t receive an email or call regarding
the use of the space. The potential uses by our local community are endless and we feel we are
only seeing the "tip of the iceberg".
Our plan, our dream and our mission is focused on one thing: a large multi purpose facility, owned
by the community through a local non profit organization. Our goal remains fixed on a facility
large enough to provide adequate space for the various groups in our local community to enjoy.
A place where both kids and adults can gather, bringing together all of our districts neighborhoods
to help develop a greater sense of community.
To meet this lofty goal requires an incredible amount of time, effort and money. With the current
temporary space at Bacton Hill we have demonstrated that there is an overwhelming need for this type
of space and we have the know how to manage this type of facility, both operationally and financially.
We have taken the necessary steps to create the proper 501(c)3 not for profit organization and
anticipate final approval in the next couple of months. We have been researching numerous centrally
located sites within the district, speaking with the townships and school district about potential
locations.
We have also started the next major step in the process...the fundraising. Since formally organizing
in late 2005, GVBL has raised in excess of $50,000 with our spring Monte Carlo Nights and fall
GVBL Golf Outing. We consider this a huge success as they were inaugural events creating the
cornerstone for our future fundraising. With the generous response we are currently receiving
for our 2nd Annual GVBL Golf Outing we anticipate continued momentum with our initial fundraising efforts.
It’s been a fantastic start with a ton of effort from the community. We have a considerable
task ahead but just the right community to make this "community asset" a reality.
Thanks for the continued support!
