Winter Basketball at GVBL |
We are pleased to officially announce that there will be a High School Division at GVBL for boys in grades 9
through 12. We have 36 players signed-up, so we will have 4 teams of 9 players each. Tom, Rich and Keith are
running as fast as they can at GVBL and have asked me to handle organizing the league. Below is some important
information:
Player evaluations will be held this Friday, November 30th at 7 p.m. at GVBL. Please arrive promptly at 7 p.m.
to register for the evaluations and get your number. Player evaluations will consist of some basketball
drills and scrimmages. The purpose of these evaluations is to help coaches become familiar with the
players and ensure that the teams are equally balanced. The evaluations will be completed by 8:45 p.m.
If your son cannot make the evaluations on Friday, please send me an
e-mail ASAP.
- Each team will play one game per week on Friday evenings at GVBL. The exact times are TBD.
- Each team will have one pre-season game scheduled for Friday, December 7th.
- The regular season will begin on Friday December 14th.
- Players will receive their team shirt on December 7th.
- There are no formal practices scheduled for these teams, so any practices will be at the discretion of the coaches.
- We plan to have the teams selected and communicated by Sunday, December 2nd and the regular season schedule published soon after that.
Please remember this league is being run by volunteers; many of which are already coaching other GVBL teams, so all parents and older siblings should make themselves available to pitch-in wherever they can, including running the clock.
The purpose of this league is to provide these young men the opportunity to continue to play competitive basketball in a fun and safe environment. If you have any suggestions during the year on how we can improve the league, please e-mail me.
